Re: Horizons of War - A Dragon Rider Roleplay

Rain stabbed and slashed at two more coming his way, but it was clear now that the majority of the attacking horde had been dealt with. A new breed they might have been, but these Voidspawn were still as mindless and unthinking as before.

"What's to be jealous of?" Rain shot back. "Surely not of the fact that you're an insufferable show-off."

Rain! Frost admonished. That was NOT necessary!

"Yes it was," Rain retorted as he skewered the final attacking Voidspawn.

"At least I show up on time!" Ildrea shot back, sniffing in the dignified manner allotted to her by her race as she looked down her nose at Rain, the tip of her rapier touching the ground. "Perhaps I should buy you a pocket clock for Zenith Day, but I fear that your dull mind would fail to read the dial correctly!"

You are acting like children, Undra admonished, when we should be searching for the cause of this disturbance.

Rain bristled visibly at the insult, though he didn't entirely understand the part about pockets and dials, he was sure that it was very insulting indeed.

Just as he opened his mouth to insult her back, Frost's tail stuck him painfully across the stomach, hard enough to send him staggering backwards.

Enough, the white dragon roared. We will head towards town hall first.

Everything happened in a blur. She was a mage and could probably handle a few of the foul creatures, but she was a healing mage, not a battle mage. Her training was in repairing the damage and simple defense, though she had been told and knew for a fact she could be quite a force if she simply performed the same spells in reverse. The thought sickened her as all of her companions fought around her.

Running and dodging she tried to stay out of the way and close to them, managing to kill only one herself. It spied her out easily for being weaker than the rest and tried to come in from behind. The power of the reverse life spell scared her as the spawn shriveled just inches from her face. Cana squealed as if it was a dead bug and hopped back.

The bickering between the riders surprised her. Having never met a rider before it soured the image she had in her mind of them. "Oh honestly." She mumbled just as the dragon knocked his rider nearly to the ground. Here she was scared to death and they quarreled and fought both creatures and each other. Cana snorted and held back a giggle as the rider regained his footing. Her hand covered by her long sleeve held over her mouth.

"You heard them, fool," Ildrea sniffed, lifting her nose into the air as she stalked off toward the largest building in the settlement, back straight, sword swishing impatiently at her side.

Undra heaved a monstrous sigh and followed after. Damn hatchlings, the old dragon muttered.

As everyone else had dealt with the main horde Toth had stepped back, allowing the dragons fight whilst, using his pump-action crossbow to take out the Spawn that were trying to circle around them. Barbed bolts flew in a veritable hail, hitting arms and legs, torsos and heads as they fought, pining them to each other and the ground itself as they advanced

He finally ran low on bolts as the horde thinned, and he realized he was making a low moaning sound in his throat, and while the trained solider had been taking comm and during the fighting the reset of his psyche had run off to hid in the face of these horrors. He almost fell to his knees as the dragons finished off the Spawn, but managed to compose himself. He followed the group as they headed off towards the town hall, ignoring the oddly timed bickering between his 'Superiors' . He went up to Healer, who looked a bit shaken "Are you OK Ma'am." He asked, his bow still trained on the town shadows.

Cana, not ma'am." She growled ,but then thought better of it. Enough fussing had been done. "Yes, I'm fine... thank you. I'm just not use to experiencing first hand the cause of all the wounds I've healed." She nodded to him, thankful her trembling hands were hidden in the folds of her cloak.

Ildrea closed her eyes, melding her senses with that of Undra as she paused to the side of the ajar doorway to the largest building. Her nostrils flared as scents no human could detect assailed her, her head tilting to the side as she sifted through sounds that might have been two feet from her, or miles off, focusing in on one that was a quick pounding.

A heart...? she thought, brow creasing as she listened and heard fast puffs of breath. She could detect no telling odor though, to tell whether or not it was a human, or some beast laying in wait for attack.

Cana's head throbbed suddenly, and her vision whited out for a flash of a second. It was enough to make her gasp and fall to her knees.

...help me... please help me!...

She clutched her head and searched for the source of the voice, eyes squinted from the pain. "Where are you?" She groaned in response. The voice seemed to be coming from everywhere at once as if whoever it was , wasn't skilled at mind speak.

An image of a ...creature that had the resemblance of a young boy appeared in her mind. Something was off about it but she was sure whatever it was , was too injured to cause trouble.

I can't hold them ....off much longer... A second wave... we must run! hurry!...

Cana screamed from the mental assault, hands tangled in her own hair as she fought to stay focused, it was amazing he was this powerful while injured. "Where are you?!"

The stairs!... last room... right..

"Gods save us all!" Before the words finished she darted past Ildrea into the open door, seeing the main stairs right away and dashing up them as fast as her chubby legs could carry her.
